Orchard House
Devising a fresh take on country living
For this beautiful new-build oak framed house in Kent, we were commissioned to create a fresh, country-inspired interior that felt timeless, comfortable and in tune with its rural surroundings.

Brought in by our international clients during the build stage, we were able to influence key design decisions early and make sure the interior worked seamlessly with the architecture. The oak frame brings warmth and character, so our approach was to complement it with a softer palette and natural materials for a fresh, uplifting country aesthetic.
Throughout the house, finishes were chosen for their texture and subtlety. Painted cabinetry, timber detailing and stone surfaces are balanced with layered fabrics and softer elements, creating a scheme that feels both relaxed and refined. Each room is designed to feel light and open, with a natural flow from one space to the next.
Bespoke joinery plays an important role, adding character, function and structure without interrupting the overall feel. In the kitchen, a muted blue island introduces a gentle contrast against the warmth of the oak and the neutrality of the surrounding finishes.
Our role extended far beyond design concepts. Regular site visits to Kent allowed us to work closely with contractors, suppliers and trades, so we could resolve details in situ and make sure the final finish met our exacting standards. By staying involved throughout, we were able to create a cohesive, top-quality interior; a home that beautifully balances the traditional charm of an oak frame build with a fresh country aesthetic.
Bespoke joinery and panelling work together to frame the fireplace and window seat, bringing a real sense of continuity to the space.
We introduced herringbone tiles within the shower area to add subtle texture and movement; the pattern complements the sloping ceiling and draws the eye through the space without disrupting the overall simplicity. Brass fittings were introduced across the bathrooms, chosen for their warmth against the cooler tones of stone and tile.
We used a restrained palette of neutrals and natural textures in the bedrooms to create spaces that feel calm, comfortable and consistent with the rest of the house.
Helen, Interior Designer
A muted blue was introduced to the kitchen island to bring a sense of depth and contrast, sitting comfortably alongside timber elements and lighter surrounding finishes.
