1. Introduce yourself: who you are, where you’re from, and your role at Lewis Knox

Hi, I’m Beth! I’m from North Wales and work as an interior designer at Lewis Knox.

My role covers all aspects of interior design, from soft furnishings and spatial planning using CAD to designing bespoke joinery and managing projects. I work across both small-scale studio projects and large residential and commercial jobs, ensuring each space is thoughtfully designed and expertly executed.

2. Tell us about your degree: Where you studied and key learnings

I studied Interior Design at Chester University and graduated with first-class honours. Throughout my degree, I developed a deep understanding of spatial planning and realised just how much of the role is visual and software-based, a fact that often surprises people!

Alongside my studies, I worked in the industry, which helped me refine my time management, expand my knowledge of soft furnishings, and gain real-world experience. A fun fact: Helen, one of the co-founders of Lewis Knox, was actually one of my tutors during my degree, so working here now feels like a full-circle moment!

3. How have your past roles influenced your work at Lewis Knox?

In my previous roles, I specialised in bespoke joinery and worked as a specifier for stone, tile, and wood flooring. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of materials and craftsmanship, which I now bring to the studio. This knowledge is invaluable when working on large-scale residential and commercial projects, ensuring each element is thoughtfully integrated to create a unique, tailored result for our clients.

4. What has been your favourite project since joining Lewis Knox and why?

It’s hard to pick just one, as every project is so different, but if I had to choose, I’d say Broxton House, a beautiful South Cheshire family home. The project has been a personal highlight because I’ve been involved from the start, overseeing its various phases and working closely with the clients to bring their vision to life. Half of the project has already been photographed and can be seen on our website, while the rest is being shot later this year. I can’t wait to see the final shots!

5. What are the most challenging aspects of your job, and how do you overcome them?

Design always comes with unexpected challenges, especially on large-scale projects where changes need to be made on-site. Something as seemingly minor as moving a doorway can have a significant impact on the design, particularly when it affects bespoke joinery. The key to overcoming these challenges is clear communication, with both clients and trades, as well as regular site visits to ensure everything stays on track and solutions are found efficiently.

6. What have been your biggest achievements or proudest moments at Lewis Knox?

It’s not always easy to pinpoint personal achievements, but for me, the biggest reward is seeing a project come to life. There’s nothing quite like the moment of a successful handover, when all the planning, designing, and problem-solving come together to create a beautifully finished space.

7. Describe your dream project.

My dream project would be designing a country home in the Cotswolds. The architecture, the scenery, the cosy country pubs, it’s the perfect setting for a timeless and characterful interior. Having complete creative freedom to design a home in that setting (essentially, my dream home!) would be an absolute dream come true.
