Summary of role

We are looking for a highly creative and experienced Interior Architect with a minimum 5+ yrs experience in high residential design to join us on a full time permanent basis to work on a range of prestigious and exciting projects. Experience of commercial design is not essential but would be an advantage. This is a new role within a multi award winning Interior Design Practice, based just outside of Chester, Cheshire.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a practical knowledge of joinery methodology and interior building practices. Ideally, they will be experienced and passionate in working on period properties, with emphasis on traditional architectural detailing. Able to work independently, but also as part of an expanding team, creating drawing packages within tight time constraints. Experience of running multiple projects of varying sizes in conjunction is essential. The main responsibilities include detailing, specifications and detailed CAD drawings as necessary for bespoke design development for Joinery and site construction issue.

Key responsibilities

  • Management of High End Residential projects from concept to completion, varying in size up to £1 million
  • Presentations and meetings with clients to develop and evolve initial project brief and ensure the client feels involved.
  • Calculation of tendering packages and fee proposals from project brief
  • Work with a team, delegating tasks and providing support to other designers as necessary.
  • Responsible for generating, developing and implementing high quality interior design concepts.
  • Taking ownership for projects and presenting to potential or existing high end residential and commercial clients
  • Site meetings and liaising with external consultants and contractors.
  • Managing project site deliverance to completion

Experience and skills

  • Minimum qualification: Interior Design or Architecture degree
  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience
  • Experience in Autocad and Sketchup essential
  • Hand drawing skills advantageous for problem solving and helping clients visualise designs
  • Able to demonstrate experience of completed UK-based projects.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet multiple deadlines/projects.
  • Wide knowledge of finishes, materials and details.
  • Experience of Fixed FF&E selection, coordination and scheduling.
  • Experience coordinating designs with other consultants especially on site with creative problem solving that may arise in site situations.
  • Confident to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and demonstrates confident client handling
  • Experience in construction and bespoke detailing
  • A working knowledge of UK Building Systems, Regulations and construction methods
  • Proficient using Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written

The Package

Hours of Employment

  • Monday to Friday: 9am to 5pm (1/2hr unpaid lunch) or 37.5hrs per week. Holidays
  • 20 days basic, plus statutory bank holidays being a minimum of 28 days per annum
  • Holiday year runs from 1 st January to 31 st December
  • Christmas shutdown of minimum 3 days ending on Christmas Eve and recommencing on the first working day after New Year. This is an addition to your basic 20 days holiday.
